  "SQL Server Backups and Restore Strategies"

  

In this session we will be discussing SQL Server backup and restore strategies that go beyond the basics.  Every DBA deals with full backup and restores on a daily basis, but what about the more advanced options that are available?  We will design and build a database using multiple files and file groups to show how we can save time and space in our backups.  We will also be demonstrating how to restore a database in parts and still being able to use the database while our operations are running!

 

Shawn McGehee is the leader of the OPASS user group out of Sanford, FL and has been active in the SQL Server community for over 6 years.  He has been a leader for users groups in Pensacola and Orlando and can usually be found at SQL Saturday events all over Florida.  He is the author of several SSRS books from Apress as well as the SQL Server backup and restore book from Simple-Talk.  You can follow him on twitter at @SQLShawn or check out his author page at https://www.simple-talk.com/author/shawn-mcgehee/.

First meeting at our new location

Our first meeting in our new location was great! Dimitri did an awesome job presenting SQL Server performance and analyzing wait statistics.  Of course everyone met at the Broken Barrel for the "after burner" social. Since Thursday is my bowling night, so  I invited my team to join us. Frank, Tony, Rich and myself kept the party going until almost 11pm. 

As soon as Dimitri sends me the presentation I will upload and let everyone know.

Next month , November 10th, we have a lunch session with  Sanjay Soni and  Microsoft presenting for the Harris Database Users Group  then dinner for Space Coast SQL Users Group. Should be a great day
